This article demonstrates how MiraCosta students can view their 1098-T tax form through SURF.
Will my 1098-T be automatically generated?
Your Tax Form 1098-T will only be automatically generated if you have met the following conditions:
Fees were paid out of pocket during the respective year.
Qualified fees: enrollment, non-resident, and course material fees.
Excluded fees: State-mandated Health Services fee and Student Center fee.
You will NOT be eligible for 1098-T if your classes were paid with Financial Aid and/or Military Educational Benefit funds.
Enrolled courses were passes with a “C” or better.
Possess a valid social security number.

How to Access Your Tax Form 1098-T
There are two ways that students can retrieve their 1098-T through SURF.
Option 1
Go to the SURF home page and select the Log In button.
Enter your SURF ID and Password on the MiraCosta College Login page. Select the Sign In button.
Please read this article if you forgot your password and need to reset it.
Once you are on the Student Center screen, select the Financial Account button.
On the left-hand menu, select the Account Services >> View 1098-T button.
Select Grant Consent if you are prompted to do so. Then, follow the steps on the screen to grant consent to view your 1098-T online.
You will now see a list of years with tax information. Select the tax year link that you would like to view. Select the Box Amount button to view the payments made per tax year.
Note: Your pop-up blocker must be disabled to view your Tax Form 1098-T. Click to learn how to Manage Pop-Up Blockers .
If the tax year links are not active or you cannot click on them, go to Option 2.
Option 2
Go to the Heartland ECSI website to access your 1098-T tax form and follow the steps as prompted.

Call 760.795.6835.
Visit them at Room 3202 on the Oceanside Campus and request a print copy of your 1098-T.
