Alternative Option to Access JMP

JMP can be accessed on the Oceanside and San Elijo campuses at the Open Computer Labs. It is also available at various Classroom Computer labs throughout the MiraCosta campuses.

Note: JMP (statistical software company) has informed us that they are no longer offering a site license for education. Instead, they are providing a "free" version of JMP Pro, renamed as: JMP Student Edition. 

What You Need to Know:

1. The new JMP Student Edition software is fully functional, with the same great features of JMP Pro. The software can be used by faculty, students and academic researchers.

2. The software can be downloaded for free onto your machine (personal or work machine).

3. Labs: labs that currently have JMP will be updated to the latest version of JMP Student Edition by ITS before the Fall Semester. You will NOT need to download or install anything onto lab machines.

 What You Need to Do:

1. If you plan to use JMP on your machine (personal or work), please click the link to register for an account and download/install the software. Instructions are attached; one for faculty/researchers, one for students.

   2. Can I do this now?: Yes, you can! 

2. Inform Students: Please update any instructions you are providing to students on your class syllabus (or otherwise) that they will need to:

   1. Register for an account by going to https://jmp.com/student  

   2. While the registration/download/install is fairly straightforward, you may wish to also provide students with a copy of the attached instructions (for Students) for registering, downloading and installing the software (if using a personal machine). 

   3. Whether using a lab machine or a personal machine, students will be prompted to log into the JMP Student Edition software when they launch the program, so it's imperative to have a registered account.

3. Inform your colleagues: Please inform your colleagues/other personnel that may also be using JMP of these instructions and registration requirements.

"JMP is excited to announce that JMP Student Edition, the free software for academic use, is now available. JMP Student Edition is available for instructors, students, and academic researchers. 

JMP Student Edition is freely available to all qualified academic users without requiring your university to purchase a site license. The software is fully featured and based on JMP Pro, with no limitations on data size or analysis capabilities. Eligible users receive a 12-month license that can be renewed annually at no cost.

Note that JMP Student Edition can be installed on lab and classroom computers and accessed by registered users.
