Set Up Your OKTA Account | New Students
This article describes how new students enrolled at MiraCosta college can set up their Okta login credentials and a Multi Factor Authentication method to access important software such as Surf and Canvas.
Instructions
Check your registered email account with MiraCosta for an email with your Surf ID. In the email, select the Activate MiraCosta User Account button.
If you do not know your Surf ID, you can search for it through our Surf ID Lookup. All you need is the email address associated with your account!
If the provided link does not work, ensure your browser pop-up blockers are off or allowed to open a new screen and clear your browser cache if necessary.
Begin setting up your new password according to the instructions on the next screen.
Begin setting up your Multi Factor Authentication Method (MFA). Select Email Authentication >> Setup.
On the next screen, select Send Me The Code. Check your email account for a six digit code, enter it on the next screen in the verification box, and select Verify. You will receive a MFA Factor Enrolled notification email. Select Finish to continue.
You may set up another MFA as a backup to the method you have already chosen by following the on screen instructions.
You have successfully set up your Okta account! On the next screen, the OKTA Dashboard will display. Select the application you would like to access i.e. SURF, Canvas, Office 365, etc.
